If you've never heard of him, let me warn you off the bat his tendencies are a bit raunchy, to say the least. Despite that, he's definitely got skills many years running. And why not? He was inspired by what a lot of us were: the media around him. And much in the same way I was inspired by video games, music, and certain TV shows/movies (for me, mainly concentrated in the 1990's/early-to-mid 2000's), he found his inspiration much the same way (although more so from other sources than myself...). I can say the main thing that inspires me is his how his attitude goes into a lot of what he works on. And really, I feel the attitude one gives off is one of the defining factors in what makes a person's individual style. The attitude is the thing that gives the punch and feel to each and every character you develop. And much like one's attitude, it changes over time. If you stick with a character for a while (like this character portrayed, which, if the description was correct, he's kept since Limp Bizkit tried to get their label to pay a radio station to play that one song they made that one time...), you can see it change in similar ways that you do. It may not be exact, but you might notice a pattern.

Anyway, long story short, guy's excellent at his ability.

Well, after drawing one of his characters with utter mediocrity, I took my time with this one. This character is Sesha (full name Seshafi Anouke) and for an idea, I was thinking something in front of one of those AM/PM shops I apparently only saw between Utah and New Mexico. Also, interesting that I found a Texaco in Utah, because I remember when I lived in Boise, ID, there was a Texaco on a corner in my neighborhood (and before we moved to Nampa in 2004, we saw it turn into a Shell station).

Anyway, I don't know why I was going for a somber look. I guess anything at 1AM is somber. I don't know. I remember staring out the window of my hotel in Renton, WA, at 2AM thinking "what's going on..."

Anyway, I think I did much better on her than I did on my rendition of Elgiza. However, that's definitely because I planned out carefully when I sketched it (rather than sketching to pass the time while waiting for my car to be fixed). Also, I wanted the character to be drawn properly because I'm like that.

Often, I'm a little intimidated at myself when I draw characters from artists who primarily draw digitally. They render them excellently, and if I try to draw them in my own style, it kinda makes me feel like I took one of their pieces and cleaned it with hydrochloric acid. Now don't get me wrong, I like drawing other peoples' characters. I feel like there's no better way of showing my appreciation of someone's awesome characters like making fanart (as long as it's not hate art or revenge porn). But ultimately, drawing them is another reminder to me to work on my skills so I can maybe one day put out artworks as awesome as them. But hey, we all have our ways to figure it out, so I'm excited on how that might be for me.

Why do I keep writing long descriptions on these things? >_< I guess this was the best place to let it out, I suppose. I mean, I'm not even mad, but sometimes I gotta explain myself. I figure that might help you (whoever you are that's reading this) understand what I intend... maybe.

Anyway, LIKE IT!
